About Virginia Hatfield

Virginia Hatfield has worked in the field of archaeology for over 22 years. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Kansas. Her M.A. is on chipped stone projectile points in Texas from a site in Evant, Texas. Her dissertation was on the chipped stone technology used in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska. She has worked in contract in archaeology since the early 1990s, and, most recently was a project archaeologist for Prewitt and Associates, Inc.

She is currently the executive director of the Museum of the Aleutians in Unalaska, AK. She has an adjunct position at the University of Kansas, Biodiversity Department.
